Part of the College of Design’s Kusske Design Initiative, the KDI Exchange invites consideration of varied design motivations, disciplines, methods, and solutions.
How can designers elicit varied knowledge from multiple stakeholders and work it into overarching strategies and new forms? KDI Co-Principal Malini Srivastava (associate professor of architecture; director of the Master of Science in Architecture, Applied Research in Practice program; and associate dean for research, creative scholarship, and engagement) and Juanjuan Wu (professor of retail and consumer studies, director of the interdisciplinary design minor program, and associate dean for academic programs) reflect on methods that have yielded reliable results for their work, including gamification of architectural design processes and crowdsourcing for systems for online marketing and purchasing.
The KDI Exchange occurs biweekly on Fridays, 11 a.m. to noon. These dialogues are open and informal, conducted via Zoom to maximize inclusion and reference-sharing for building community and enriching design thinking and practice.
