There are millions of users on websites like Linkedin and others like it. It’s basically a website where people from all parts of the world can post online job offerings. On the other hand, people who are looking for work online can also apply there. Anyone can set up an account and put in all the necessary details. If you’re looking for work, then you need to put all your credentials, portfolio, skills, and everything else that is needed. LinkedIn API has a treasure trove of people with the skills and assets that some companies would want but with so much data, what are they to do?

What is the LinkedIn API

The LinkedIn API stands for the application development programming interface, is a tool used by people to gather data available from Linkedin. It’s used to compile or collect data from LinkedIn and all of its existing users. What the group does with the data is up to them and it usually has something to do with their business. Afterward, people who sign up for LinkedIn know this as this is a part of the terms and agreement.

For people that use this API, they can integrate the data that they have for their own means. It makes things easier for them when they want to search up certain people or certain skillsets to what they need. Just keep in mind that the data available in Linkedin are the same data provided by the users.

In order to use the LinkedIn API, you have to apply to be a partner to LinkedIn. They stopped giving access to anyone several years back. That’s because sometimes the data would be misused for something else. Nowadays, you can go through a process where you have to apply to use it. They won’t just give it unless you have a good reason to do so.

Extracting data some other way

While the LinkedIn API method is good, it may take some time. We mentioned they won’t give access easily, but there are third-party apps and programs that allow you to do something similar. There are programs like Lix Linkedin API that can do the same thing among others. Before you do so, make sure that you find the right one. Some of these may be questionable and can be harmful for your own use.

If you plan on using these third-party API extraction programs, there might be some differences. It could be something like the interface itself or something else. The good thing is that some of these are free and some you might have to pay for. Paying will offer some easy and fast access compared to waiting for that LinkedIn partnership approval. All you have to do is to make sure that these apps are legit and safe. Especially if you are willing to pay for such services.

If you are able to use the legitimate LinkedIn API or some third-party app, be sure to use the data to the best that you can and for your needs.
